Quote of the Day: "It is dangerous to confuse children with angels."
— David Fyfe, British Statesman
http://www.screamfree.com/resources/partners/template/images/hal_runkel.jpg Hal's Take: Although they look angelic when they first arrive, it should take only a few hours for you to realize that they are clearly not. When we place our children on this type of pedestal and expect perfection from them, we are robbing them of the freedom to take risks and make mistakes. We are also setting them up for a hard fall. Kids are precious gifts from above, but they are in no way perfect. They will make mistakes, over and over again. They are in the process of growing, as are we, and the sooner we recognize that fact and extend a little grace, the better off we will all be.

I've never made the mistake of confusing my children for angels. Not once.

Oh, I don't think they are angels, but I do sometimes expect things from them that might not be feasible. I have been trying very hard to not let my expectations and wants get in the way of what is right for them.

Angels? Where? There's no angels in my house.....because they are too much like their mommy. :snicker:

This. :ita: I realised a long time ago that if I place certain expectations on my children and they couldn't live up to them...that I was the only one disappointed. I remind myself of this often.
