How did you hear about U of Mom? From Hoppy, whom I met nearly a decade ago when we were pregnant with our first children! We've stayed friends ever since and have gone through so much together -- even though we live across country from each other. The Internet is a good thing!

If you have children, how many do you have and what are their ages?
I have two girls. Skyler is 9yo and loves karate, swimming, musical theater, singing, piano ... you get the idea! She just started 4th grade and is settling in well with good friends and a great teacher.

Chloe is 6yo, and is a complicated little girl. She's absolutely, off-the-charts brilliant -- but with those smarts come an amazing ability to manipulate anything and everyone. She's had our family wrapped around her little finger since she took her first breath! At first blush you see a petite, soft-spoken little girl with a pixie haircut and big brown eyes -- she's been compared to the 1960s model, Twiggy. But if things aren't going her way, she can make the loudest noise known to man! It took us nearly 5 years to get her potty-trained, and then we found out this summer that she has some major GI issues. So I had to send my little girl off to first grade in Pull-Ups. It's been a long road. When she's not dealing with potty issues, Chloe enjoys swimming, piano, karate, singing, reading and learning! She loves to play all sorts of computer games, too.

Both of my girls and I have had the pleasure of singing backup on two songs for a local singer/songwriter called Barbara McAfee. Skyler also had a small "speaking part" on her latest song.

How old are you:
A) Under 25
B) 26-31
C) 32-39
D) 40-49
E) Ageless

D, but I feel more like 90yo. I've got a variety of health issues, including Fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis in both knees, and major clinical depression. Dealing with chronic pain would make anyone depressed!!!

Describe your favorite pair of shoes or your favorite power tool:
Uggs

Do you have a Hobby?
I sing for people who are on the threshold between living and death -- I recently sang for a woman who died just 15 minutes after I left the room. Death is such an amazing thing, and it's a privilege to be invited into that sacred space to help send someone to the other side with a song in their soul.

How about pets?
I have a 15yo long-haired miniature dachshund named Dotty, who I can tell is starting to lose control of the muscles in her back end. I can't imagine life without her, since I've been with her longer than I've been with my husband, Jim, and my two girls.

We also adopted a 3yo cat 1 1/2 years ago from a no-kill shelter. She came to us named Dazey, and she's a complete lover. She's more like a dog than a cat! She loves to drink out of the bathroom faucet and toilet, she's a door greeter, and she's managed to take over the spot next to me in bed from Dotty. She's also a great mouser and she recently caught two mice in our house! He former owners must've trained her to pee in the sink, so we had to break her of that nasty habit. UGH! Since we've had coyotes in our neighborhood (and, no, we don't live in the country. We live in the suburbs of Minneapolis!), we don't let her go outside for fear she'll become coyote kibble. She still does her best to sneak out on us, though!

What kind of Music do you like?
I'll listen to just about anything, but not Polka or rap!

What is your favorite slang word?
Fuck

Who was your teenage celebrity crush?
Scott Baio, Michael J. Fox

If you had $1,000 to spend any way you wanted, what would you spend it on? (You can't pay bills with it!!) Clothes for me and my girls!

Hi Amber. You sound like a very unique person. I've never heard of someone singing to people on their death beds. That's a wonderful thing to do for them. I'm sure it really helps.

Your kids sound very smart. You must be a great mom! Looking forward to getting to know you better. :ita:
