Welcome to the University of Mom Forums! We have a few guidelines that we would like for you to be aware of before you begin posting on our board. Please take the time to read these guidelines, as we believe that they go to the heart of what we are all looking for in this unique parenting community.

Registering at Uofmom.com is for members 18 years of age or older because of language and mature audience content. We want to provide a place for parents of all stages, from trying to conceive, babyhood, childhood, those dreaded teenage years, to adulthood. We recognize that we all come from different walks of life and embrace the different backgrounds that we all come from to reach this common ground, motherhood. When registering at uofmom.com, you consent to receiving occasional email notices as well as our monthly newsletter.

As in any community, we do need to let you know a few ground rules for posting in our forums.

-Please understand that any opinions expressed by our members are not necessarily those of UofMom’s staff. We strive to provide a place where everyone can express her opinions safely, and without fear of retribution. Please also know that those opinions are just that, opinions, and should never be substituted for medical advice, legal advice, or otherwise.

-We cannot stress enough to you the need to keep your private information private. Please carefully choose your password, making it one that is not something obvious for anyone to guess, such as your child’s name, etc. Make it a good combination of letters (upper- and lowercase), numbers, and at least one symbol. This will ensure your username safety on our forums. We can tell you that we will personally keep any private information given to board administrators or owners private, but cannot make that same claim for other members. Please carefully choose whom you choose to share personal details such as name, address, phone number etc.

-We encourage you to share photos and the like on our forums, but again, would warn you to choose carefully before posting pictures of a private or sensitive nature. Please do not post exceptionally large photos or files, they must be kept to 160x160 pixels. We may delete images larger than this limit, as it may slow down the board for other posters. If you must post something large, please link it to an outside photo-sharing site.

-We enjoy lively, intelligent debate around the University, but would like for those debates to be confined to our debate forums. Debating an issue is NEVER allowed in a support forum. Please take any debatable issues to a debate or discussion forum; they are there for a reason.

-There are, however, a few guidelines that must be followed when posting in our discussion forum. You may debate the issue, but you may NEVER debate the poster who is stating his or her opinion. You may tell the poster that they are uninformed, you may try to “sway” them to your way of thinking and the like, but you may never degrade, or “bash” another member for her opinions. As a good general rule, debate the issue, not the person. If you follow that one rule, we will all have a very interesting discussion forum with opinions and thoughts from mothers from all walks of life. On the flip side, should you choose to post in the discussion forum, please expect your opinions to be challenged. Please expect that a discussion can and likely will get heated. Should you choose to participate in heated threads, you are choosing to personally deal with the feelings and opinions that other posters choose to express. Threads do not always go the way that they are intended. If something gets out of your comfort zone, simply choose to leave the thread.

-In the same vein, we will not tolerate members registering just to harass or attack our members. We enjoy our members very much, and will not tolerate them being personally attacked. You may state your opinions, however, please do so in a civil, respectful, and adult manner.

-Any “slurs” attacking someone for their race, sexual orientation, religion, weight, gender, country of origin, and the like will be terms for immediate banning. We take this very seriously. Should you choose to post something violating this rule, you will not even receive a warning, you will be banned from our community.

-We welcome members that have small businesses, and encourage them to link to their sites. We love the sense of community that develops from members doing business with other members, and are always willing to help out another mother's business. We do ask that these threads be confined to our “Community Links” forum. We are excited to provide you with a place where you can support other members’ businesses. Repeatedly linking to your site on support forums and the like, however, will be deleted, and can be cause for disciplinary actions.

-Please do not cross boards with drama. We enjoy our community, or we would not all be here. We are not interested in anything that our members may or may not have done at another community, nor do we want to hear about it in ours. Our members are all smart women who are capable of making their own judgments of a member's character without knowing prior histories.

The information contained on uofmom.com is provided "AS IS" and we are not responsible for its use or misuse. We may change uofmom.com from time to time without notice or obligation to the users.

We will treat member questions, comments and other feedback about uofmom.com as non-confidential and may reproduce, use, disclose, and distribute such items without notice or obligation to the originator.

Links to other publicly available web sites and or other privately gained graphics or content are the sole responsibility of the member, and uofmom.com will not be responsible for the subject matter posted anywhere in the universe or transmitted via email, linking or written material.

Any illegal, unethical, humanely disgusting or hot-linked subject matter is strictly forbidden and uofmom.com will not be held responsible for its use. We make no representations about, and are not responsible for, the contents or use of any other web sites, member information or personal shared information.

Our board and it's administrators will not be responsible for any harm or intent to harm that may result from the sharing of personal information with strangers.

Please use discretion and be responsible for your own actions on this board. We our not able, nor are we willing, to repair damage resulting from your poor judgment of other members.

Uofmom.com offers free registration and a 30 day trial Premium membership. After which time your membership will revert to unpaid status and all the extras like the arcade, PM's, the Mp3 Player etc, will be removed. The general message board will remain free. If you decide to upgrade your account, your membership fee will not be refundable at any time, even if uofmom.com has to remove you as a member due to a TOS violation etc.

UofMom reserves the right to refuse or revoke some or all membership privileges to anyone at any time. Blatant violations of our TOS will be cause for immediate termination of all membership privileges and/or legal remedies as deemed necessary by UofMom.
